A work stoppage, called in protest of the assault on four employees of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) by several members of the MRT police, was lifted on Monday. After receiving assurances from the authorities, metro rail staff resumed work. Consequently, ticket sales for single journeys on the metro rail resumed after nearly an hour and a half. There had been concerns about the suspension of metro rail services in the morning due to the work stoppage, but the metro rail operated as scheduled, although most employees did not join work.
