7 colleges’ students lift ultimatum after assurance from home adviser on meeting their demands
The students of seven colleges have announced their decision to withdraw their 24-hour ultimatum to implement their demands, including the resignation of DU Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Mamun Ahmed. A day after announcing their ultimatum, they have now backtracked from their stance after a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser retired Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at his office at the Secretariat. Adviser Nahid Islam was also present at the meeting.

Meeting further demands of railway staff not feasible now: Finance adviser
The government has resolved overtime issues and allocated funds to meet the reasonable demands of railway staff around 8–10 days ago, said Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed. However, additional demands, including gratuity benefits, remain unmet due to financial limitations. Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat today (28 January), he said, "We have done as much as we could for humanitarian reasons. Considering the current economic situation, meeting further demands is not feasible."

Railway`s running staff called for an indefinite strike starting today (28 January) demanding pension and gratuity with their mileage allowance. To combat this disruption, BRTC bus services have been introduced on important rail routes to facilitate passenger transportation, reads a press release.
