7 colleges to be separated from DU

Authorities concerned have decided to end the affiliation between Dhaka University (DU) and the seven government colleges.New students of these seven colleges will not be admitted in the 2024-25 session under DU. Existing students, however, will continue their studies under DU administration, according to a press release issued by the Public Relations Office of DU today (27 January).

USAID to continue food support for Rohingyas: Apurba

The US support for the displaced Rohingyas, who took shelters in Bangladesh, will continue. Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir told this at a press briefing at Foreign Service Academy here this evening. ‘On his assumption of office, US President Donald Trump suspended US support to all countries globally for 90 days but the assistance and resources that USAID continues to provide for the Rohingyas’ food and nutrition have been exempted from it,’ he said.

Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Sunday (26 January) said there was no discussion regarding Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus` China visit during his recent bilateral visit to the East Asian country, stressing that Dhaka is not in a hurry on that. ‘To tell you the truth, there was no discussion about it because we`re not in a hurry,’ he said when a reporter drew his attention to media reports on the chief adviser`s visit to China.
