One more death was reported from dengue in 24 hours till Wednesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to nine this year. During the period, 32 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Of them, one dengue patient was admitted in hospital under Dhaka North City Corporation while nine were hospitalized in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Indonesian rescuers recovered the bodies of at least 17 people who were swept away in flash floods or buried under tons of mud and rocks that hit hilly villages on the country`s main island of Java, officials said Tuesday. Eight people were missing. At least seven members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement were injured as reportedly two factions of the platform clashed at its central office. The incident took place at the platform`s central office in Banglamotor of the capital this evening (21 January), according to members of the platform. Shah Alam, former officer-in-charge (OC) who escaped from the custody of Uttara East Police Station, might have fled to India, suspects Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sajjad Ali.
