The ceasefire deal agreed between Israel and Hamas has come into effect in Gaza today (19 January) after a nearly three-hour delay during which Israeli attacks killed several Palestinians. Gaza ceasefire went into effect imminently at 11:15am local time (0915 GMT), said Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu`s office in a statement said the release of three captives held in Gaza will take place after 14:00 GMT today and four other living female hostages would be freed in seven days, reports Al Jazeera.

A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against national cricketer and former Awami League MP Shakib Al Hasan in a cheque dishonour case. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman passed the order today (19 January) after Shakib failed to appear before the court, reports The Daily Star. Earlier, on 18 December last year, a Dhaka court had summoned Shakib and three others to appear before it in the case.
