22,000 MT of rice arrives from Myanmar

A shipment of 22,000 metric tonnes of rice from Myanmar has arrived at Chattogram Port. The MV Golden Star vessel carrying the bagged rice reached the port`s limits from Yangon Port, Myanmar, at 10:12pm yesterday (16 January). It was moored at Jetty No 9 of the GCB at Chattogram Port this morning (17 January). Md Ali Akbar, CEO of Seven Sea`s Shipping Lines, said this marks the first shipment of rice under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement.

The interim government has decided to repeal the National Identity Registration Act 2023, which transferred the National Identity (NID) registration-related services from the Election Commission (EC) to the home ministry. A five-year-old child was killed and 100 houses were burnt in a fire which broke out at a Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox`s Bazar district early Friday. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. 27 dengue patients hospitalised in 24hrs
