One case of HMPV virus infection has been detected in the country, said the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research IEDCR. The infected patient is a woman who was admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in the capital`s Mohakhali, said Head of the Virology at IEDCR Dr Ahmed Nowsher Alam. Dr Forhad Hossain, director of Communicable Disease Control, Directorate General of Health Services said, the HMPV infected patient is 30 years old and is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Bangladesh has halted India`s construction of fencing in several zero line areas along the Bangladesh-India border. "Bangladesh did it as it`s a violation of international law," Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said today (12 January). Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has called on Britain`s anti-corruption minister Tulip Siddiq, the niece of Sheikh Hasina who has been facing controversy over corruption charges, to apologise for using properties given to her and her family by the Awami League regime.
