6 die as bus crashes head-on into autorickshaw in Sherpur

Six people have been killed after a bus crashed head-on into an autorickshaw in Sherpur’s Sadar Upazila. The accident occurred near the PTI on the Sherpur-Dhaka highway in Vatshala Union around 11:30am on Sunday, according to Sub Inspector Ansar Ali Biyoti from Sherpur Sadar Police Station.

The ICT`s top lawyer, Tajul Islam said while it was not going to be possible to try every single person, he would initiate proceedings against those with command responsibility within one year. "The tribunal cannot bringing every single officer or individual involved with committing crimes against humanity to justice within the time frame of this government. But we will bring the `top commanders` to justice," said Tajul.

Toll plaza tragedy: Bus driver, detained by RAB, claims he was not intoxicated

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained the driver of the bus that crushed a car, ran over a motorcycle and rear-ended a microbus at the Dhaleshwari toll plaza, on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway, in Keraniganj yesterday (27 December) and killed six people. Driver Md Nurunnabi was held by RAB-10 from the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj during a drive last night, according to a statement issued by the force`s legal and media wing today. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Tapas Karmakar of RAB-10 confirmed that they arrested only one person, Nurunnabi, during the raid at Siddhirganj.
