EC cancels deal with BCC for NID data verification service

The Election Commission (EC) has terminated its contract with the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) for National Identification (NID) data verification services due to a breach of terms. ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing at the EC, made the disclosure while talking to reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban on Sunday. Kabir explained that 183 government and private institutions are currently utilising NID data verification services, with the BCC being one of the key stakeholders.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has accused the Awami League of engaging in murderous politics even before coming to power, beginning with the October 28, 2023, sit-in. Officials of 25 cadres in the Bangladesh Civil Service (BSC) have announced a series of protests over the Public Administration Reform Commission`s recommendation to appoint 50% of deputy secretaries from the administration cadre and another 50% from the rest of the cadres. They are also protesting the commission`s recommendation to remove education and health cadres from the cadre system.

The first phase draft list of martyrs and injured in July-August student-people uprising has been published. This draft list has been published on the website of the Special Cell on Mass Uprising https://musc.portal.gov.bd to finalize the list of the martyrs and injured, said an official handout today.

3 more die of dengue in 24hrs

Three more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Saturday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 561 this year. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), recent fatalities have been reported in various divisions of the country. One death each occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Barishal Division, and Khulna Division (outside the city corporations).
