Around 77.78 percent students passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations-2024 held under 11 education boards of the country, education ministry sources said. A total of 1, 45,911 candidates got GPA-5 (maximum grade point average) in the examinations, they said.

Mirpur-10 metro station reopens after nearly 3 months
Road Transport and Bridges Adviser M Fouzul Kabir Khan said the Mirpur-10 metro rail station was reopened on Tuesday after repairing the station at a cost of Tk 1.25 crore. “Today we reopened the Mirpur-10 metro station after two months and 17 days. Tk 1.25 crore has been spent to repair the Mirpur-10 metro rail station. Some damaged equipment was replaced here by unused ones from the other two stations,” he said.

Five killed, 20 injured in head-on collision of two buses in Faridpur
A head-on collision between two buses left five people dead and at least 20 injured in Mallikpur Sadar Upazila of Faridpur early Tuesday, police said. The crash involved two buses, one belonging to `Jhinaidah Paribahan` coming from Dhaka to Jhinaidah, and the other from `Green Express` heading to Dhaka from Jhenaidah.

Trade activities at the Sonamasjid Land Port in Chapainawabganj resumed on Tuesday after a six-day suspension due to Durga Puja celebrations. Detectives arrested former Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque in an operation in the capital’s Eskaton area on Monday (14 October) evening. One more death from dengue reported in 24hrs
One more death was reported from dengue in 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 215 this year. During the period, 1,186 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Of them, 288 dengue patients were admitted in hospital under Dhaka North City Corporation while 209 were hospitalized in Dhaka South City Corporation
