A head-on collision between two buses left five people dead and at least 20 injured in Mallikpur Sadar Upazila of Faridpur early Tuesday, police said. The crash involved two buses, one belonging to `Jhinaidah Paribahan` coming from Dhaka to Jhinaidah, and the other from `Green Express` heading to Dhaka from Jhenaidah.

Trade activities at the Sonamasjid Land Port in Chapainawabganj resumed on Tuesday after a six-day suspension due to Durga Puja celebrations. Alimuzzaman, an official from the Bangladesh Land Port Authority stationed at the port, confirmed the resumption of operations. Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder of the High Court division has been appointed as the chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). The European Union imposed sanctions Monday against prominent Iranian officials and entities, including airlines, accused of taking part in the transfer of missiles and drones for Russia to use against Ukraine. Detectives arrested former Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque in an operation in the capital’s Eskaton area on Monday (14 October) evening. One more death was reported from dengue in 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 215 this year. During the period, 1,186 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
