Legal action against officials appointed through leaked PSC questions

Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain on Thursday (11 July) said that legal action would be taken against any officials proven to have been appointed through leaked questions from the Public Service Commission (PSC). He made the statement during a press briefing at the Secretariat. In response to questions from journalists, Minister Farhad addressed the issue of leaked PSC examination questions by former driver Abed Ali. He revealed the names of those who secured cadre service positions through the leaked questions. Quota protesters have announced a nationwide ‘Bangla Blockade’ for Thursday, starting at 3:30 pm. Earlier, at 5:20 pm, students began lifting blockades from highways and headed to Shahbagh intersection to join the main rally. If the government or executive department assures us directly, we will leave the road. We are not supposed to stay on roads. It is not our place. Reserves fall $20.467bn after clearing ACU liabilities

Bangladesh Bank has cleared USD 1.42 billion in liabilities to the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) for the months of May and June. Following this transaction, Bangladesh’s gross reserve stands at $26.171 billion, while reserves as per the IMF’s BPM6 formula are at $20.467 billion as of Tuesday (9 July). Md Mezbaul Haque, executive director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, confirmed the payment.

Quota issue will be resolved through the final hearing in the country’s Apex Court in the first week of August, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday (9 July). He urged the students to abide by the court order and stop the protests on the roads that are causing public suffering. Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks at a press briefing at the Awami League President`s office in Dhanmondi in the capital this noon.
