Boro paddy and rice procurement drive began in Nandigram upazila of the district on Thursday (16 May) amid much enthusiasm. Officials of upazila food department sources said the government has fixed a target to procure a total of 1,985 tonnes of rice and 1,226 tonnes of Boro paddy from the farmers in Nandigram upazila of the district during the current Boro season. Govt provides 16,067 machineries to farmers in Khulna region
With a view to food boost production, the government has distributed agricultural machineries at subsided prices among the farmers in Khulna region. Under a project ‘Farm Mechanization through Integrated Management’, the machineries have been provided to the farmers at 50% subsided prices for the current boro season. According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), a total of 16,067 agricultural machineries were given among the farmers of Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira and Narial districts. The machineries include 102 combine harvesters, 248 reaper machines, 8 rice transplanters, 11,063 power-tillers, 177 tractors and 4,469 power threshers. PM for speedily completing foreign aided projects
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday (16 May) asked the authorities concerned of all ministries and divisions to speedily complete the foreign aided and grant projects with additional efforts if required to expedite further the development spree of the country. The premier gave the directives while chairing the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the NEC Conference Room in the city`s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
