Prevailing heat wave may continue

The prevailing heat wave may continue and is likely to intensify. Due to excessive moisture excursion, the discomfort may increase, the Meteorological Department said. Yesterday Monday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius. This temperature was recorded at Mongla in Khulna and Ishurdi in Rajshahi. At that time, the maximum temperature in the capital Dhaka was 37.7 degrees Celsius. According to the forecast of the department, the day temperature will remain unchanged across the country in the next 24 hours. However, the night temperature is likely to drop slightly. In the next five days, day and night temperatures are going to increase. As a result, the heat will increase further.

‘Services’ include in import-export law, policy approved

The Cabinet gave policy approval to the draft ‘Import and Exports Act-2024’ by including ‘Services’. As per the new law, in the case of import and export of services, an approval of the Ministry of Commerce will be required. At the press briefing at the Secretariat after the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary Md. Md. Mahbub Hossain informed that so far the work of controlling or banning imports and exports was done through ‘The Import and Export Control Act-1950’. There are instructions to gradually update the old Act. In the light of that directive, the Ministry of Commerce has brought this law.
