A total of 14 teams of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) were formed to monitor the 22 city kitchen markets to keep the price of essentials stable and to resist the dishonest traders during the Holy month of Ramadan. The decision was made on Monday in a view-exchange meeting with KCCI Directors and leaders of different kitchen markets held at the conference room of Chamber Building with its President Kazi Aminul Haque in the chair, said a KCCI press release here last night.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday (13 March) called on countries in the WHO South-East Asia region to prioritize transition from long-stay institutional mental health services to community-based care, to ensure these services are accessible, equitable, and stigma-free. “Transitioning from long-stay tertiary psychiatric institutions to community-based care is beneficial for both individuals and society at large," said Saima Wazed, Regional Director of WHO South-East Asia. “When these services are integrated into the fabric of our communities, it becomes easier for individuals to seek help without the fear of judgment or discrimination, “she said.

The Ministry of Commerce has fixed prices of dates, an Iftar item. According to a notice issued on Monday (11 March), the ministry has fixed the price range for low-grade dates at Tk 150 to Tk 165 per kilogram. Besides, the price of Zahidi dates, which come in sacks, has been between between Tk 170 and Tk 180 per kilogram.

Four people were killed and three were injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Chandina upazila of Cumilla early Tuesday (12 March). The accident occurred in Belasar area of Chandina at 5:30 am on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Monir Hossain, Habibur Rahman, Akhter Hossain and Rafiqul Islam. A fire that broke out at a kitchen market in Dhaka’s Uttara Sector 11 early Tuesday (12 March) was doused. Nine firefighting units from Uttara, Tongi, Kurmitola, and Pallabi fire stations brought the fire under control at 2:45 am and doused it at 3:40 am on Tuesday, said Station officer Talha bin Zasim of FSCD headquarters media cell.
