No specific security threat centering Shaheed Day: DMP Commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Habibur Rahman said on Monday (February 19) there is no specific security threat centering the observance of Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day on February 21 but police have taken all necessary measures. He said this while talking to reporters after visiting security measures at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka in the morning. The entire area will be kept under monitoring of CCTV cameras while bomb disposal, SWAT, fire service, medical and other teams will be remain stand-by, Habibur said.

PM returns home from Munich

At least three people were killed when a truck rammed an easy-bike in Shilabristi filling station area of Kaliakair on Dhaka-Tangail highway on Monday (19 February) morning. Mirpur slum fire doused

The fire at Jhilpar slum of Mirpur-12 in Dhaka on Monday (February 19) has been fully doused. The fire broke out at a one the shanties of the slum around 12:57 pm and spread soon, said Lima Khanom, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD). On information, eight fighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze around 2:55 pm, said duty officer Rashed Bin Khaled of FSCD. The origin of the blaze is yet to be known, the duty officer said, adding that there is no report of casualties till the filing of this report at 4 pm.
