A massive fire broke out at a warehouse of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) in Narayanganj on Saturday (3 February). The fire started around 1:15pm. Seven fire engines are trying to bring the blaze under control. In November 2018, a similar fire broke out at the BIWTA warehouse in Narayanganj which caused extensive damage.

Country’s central bank in its latest move has introduced the ‘SMART’ rate, tying interest rates to the six-month moving average rate of treasury bills. The government has extended the deadline for Hajj registration till February 6 due to poor response in Hajj registration. The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued a fresh notification in this regard on Friday.
