BNP on Thursday (4 January) called a 48-hour nationwide hartal from Saturday (6 January) morning to protest the 12th parliamentary election to be held on Sunday (7 January). With the announcement of the fresh programme of BNP, the 12th parliamentary election will be held amid the shutdown. The Ministry of Public Administration in a notification on Wednesday said that a general holiday has been declared on 7 January to facilitate the exercise of voting rights and voting.
