SCC exam to begin Feb 15
The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations of 2024 will begin on February 15. Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board chairman Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar confirmed the matter on Thursday (21 December). The schedule of the examinations will be published on the website, he said.

Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana said on Thursday (21 December) that the Election Commission (EC) has been doing everything needed to hold a free, fair and neutral election. “Directives were given to the election officials concerned so that expectation of people get fulfilled and they can cast their votes without any hindrance,” she said. Commissioner Rashida made the remarks while talking to journalists during a meeting with candidates, election officers and law enforcers at the conference room of Natore deputy commissioner.

Australia will send 11 military personnel to support a U.S.-led mission to protect cargo shipping in the Red Sea, but it won`t send a warship or plane, the defense minister said Thursday (21.12.23). Palestinian death toll nears 20,000 in Gaza-West Bank
The death toll of Palestinians from Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 19,667, and 52,586 others were wounded since Oct. 7, the Hamas-run Health Ministry said on Tuesday (19 December). Meanwhile, Palestinian deaths and injuries from Israeli raids in the West Bank climbed to 301 and 3,365, respectively, according to the ministry.

HC dismisses writ seeking reschedule of polls
The High Court on Wednesday (20 December) dismissed a writ petition seeking dissolution of parliament and re-announcement of election schedule for holding it under the direct supervision of the military. The HC bench of Justice Md Iqbal Kabir and Justice Biswajit Debnath passed the order. Advocate Saidur Rahman stood for the writ petitioner while Attorney General AM Amin Uddin stood for the state. Assistant Attorney General Md Saiful Alam, MMG Sarwar Payel and Tahmina Poly were also present.
