EC to receive appeals against ROs’ decisions from today
Aspirants or banks or financial institutions will be able to lodge petitions with the Election Commission (EC) challenging returning officers` (ROs) decisions over rejection and acceptance of nomination papers from Tuesday (5 December) as the scrutiny of the papers have been completed. As the ROs today completed the scrutiny of the nomination papers submitted by aspirants to contest in the upcoming 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections slated for January 7, the aggrieved individuals or institutions could file petitions with the EC between December 5 and 9, said an EC press release on Monday (4 December).

731 nomination papers rejected, 1985 accepted
The returning officers have accepted a total of 1985 nomination papers and rejected 731 others submitted by aspirants in the country’s 300 constituencies to run in the 12th parliamentary election scheduled to be held on January 07. 2 more dengue patients die, hospitalised 682
Two more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Monday (4 December) morning, raising the fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 1,634 this year. During the period, 682 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, according to the DGHS. A total of 2,689 dengue patients, including 788 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
