6 incidents of arson violence reported in 24 hrs

At least six arson attacks were recorded in 24 hours till 6 am on Monday (27 November) during the 48-hour blockade called by BNP and like-minded parties to press home their one point demand to hold the next national polls under a neutral government. A total of 10 vehicles were set on fire by miscreants during the period and one of those was set ablaze in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area under Mayor Hanif Flyover, said Shahjahan Shikdar, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell.

Miscreants set a stationary bus on fire in Mohadevpur upazila of Naogaon district on Sunday (26 November) night during the ongoing 48-hour blockade called by the BNP and some like-minded parties. Locals said miscreants set the bus of ‘Rahi Travels’ on fire around 11:30 pm. Being informed, a firefighting unit from Mohadevpur station rushed to the spot and doused the flame, said the fire station’s team leader Ashraful Rahman, adding that 50 percent of the bus got burnt.

Truck torched in Dinajpur

Unidentified miscreants set a paddy-laden truck on fire in Dinajpur’s Kaharole upazila on Sunday (26 November) midnight amid the countrywide 48-hour blockade enforced by BNP and some like-minded opposition parties. Farukul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kaharole Police Station, said the miscreants came to the spot riding four motorcycles, set the truck ablaze around 1:30 am and fled the scene.
