The ruling Awami League has begun naming its candidates for the upcoming 12th national parliamentary elections. Obaidul Quader, General Secretary of the Awami League, is releasing the names from the party`s Bangabandhu Avenue headquarters.

Shakib Al Hasan has secured the AL nomination for Magura-1. Obaidul Quader, the party`s General Secretary, made the announcement at a press conference at the party`s headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue. On October 18, a representative for the all-rounder purchased nomination forms for the Magura-1, 2 and Dhaka-10 constituencies from the Awami League`s central office at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

The combined pass rate – across 11 education boards – of the 2023 HSC and equivalent exams is 78.64 percent. This marks a 7.31 percent drop compared to 2022’s combined pass rate of 85.95 percent. A total of 10,67,852 candidates passed the exams in all the education boards. The pass rate of HSC examination in nine general education boards stands at 75.9 percent.

Violence in the West Bank has surged in the weeks since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, setting off a devastating war in the Gaza Strip. Twelve more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Saturday (25 November) morning, raising the fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 1,595 this year. During the period, 759 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, according to the DGHS.
