Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said on Thursday (23 November) that the government has no influence in the denial of bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam. The judiciary is independent and judges take decision after proper scrutiny, he said while talking to reporters after United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Gwyn Lewis paid a courtesy call on him at the secretariat.

Bus torched in capital’s Bijoynagar area

233 BGB platoons, 428 RAB patrol teams deployed

A total of 233 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and 428 members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel have been deployed across the country to maintain law and order amid the ongoing 48-hour road, rail and waterways blockade called by BNP, Jamaat and likeminded opposition parties.
