Thousands of Islamic leaders and their followers have converged on Dhaka`s historic Suhrawardy Udyan for a massive rally aimed at strengthening Islamic teachings and unity. The event, which drew a huge number of madrasah teachers and students from across the country, started at 9am today (5 November) and is expected to end at around 1pm.

Massive traffic congestion grips Dhaka
Intense traffic congestion has gripped Dhaka on Tuesday. As the day advanced, traffic continued to worsen, causing significant delays, especially for commuters traveling from the Parliament to Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, and Bangla Motor. NBR withdraws airfare excise duty, VAT for hajj pilgrims
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has withdrawn the excise duty on inbound and outbound airfare for hajj pilgrims, as well as the value-added tax (VAT) on three types of service charges for reducing overall hajj expenses. "Costs for hajj pilgrims were increasing due to rising airfares and other factors. To make hajj expenses more affordable, excise duty and VAT in three categories have been exempted," said a NBR press release on Monday night.

At least 36 dead after bus skids into a deep gorge in India

Two killed, six injured in Mymensingh filling station fire
A massive fire at Azahar Filling Station at Rahmatpur Bypass Road in Mymensingh Sadar killed two people and injured six others on Monday. 6 dengue patients die, 1,297 hospitalized
Six dengue patients died and 1,297 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the last 24 hours till Monday morning. "During the period, 89 dengue patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 185 in Chattogram, 338 in Dhaka division, 264 in Dhaka North city while 143 in Dhaka South, 171 in Khulna, 34 in Rajshahi, 33 in Mymensingh, 36 in Rangpu and 4 were admitted to different hospitals in Sylhet division," said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services
