Matiya Chowdhury passes away

Veteran politician and former minister Matia Chowdhury passed away at a hospital in the capital on Wednesday (16 October). She was 82. She breathed her last at Evercare Hospital this noon, said general manager of the hospital Arif Mahmud. Matia, also a presidium member of Awami League, served as a Deputy Leader of parliament and elected MP from Sherpur-2 constituency during 2009–2024. 155 acres of occupied BFIDC land recovered: Rizwana

As per the special directives of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, 155.09 acres of land of Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation (BFIDC) have been recovered from illegal occupation. Dengue: 8 more die, 1108 hospitalised in 24hrs

Eight more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 223 this year.
