Secondary schools and colleges which were closed due to heat wave conditions reopen today (Sunday) across the country although the sweltering heat is unlikely to abate soon. However, daily assemblies at these institutions will remain suspended until the heat wave becomes tolerable, according to a notice issued by the Ministry of Education. Iraqi social media star Ghufran Sawadi, better known as Umm Fahad, was shot dead outside her home in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, on Friday (26 April) night, a Baghdad police source told the press. The attack took place in the Zayouna area east of Baghdad, and was captured on video by a surveillance camera and shared on social media. 27-year-old dies of heatstroke in Munshiganj
A 27-year-old man died of heatstroke at Munsirhat of Sadar Upazila of Munshiganj on Saturday (27 April). The deceased was Sakhawat Hossain Mukul of Bajitpur upazila of Kishoreganj. He was a sales representative at RFL. Ferdous Hasan, a duty doctor at Munshiganj General Hospital, said Sakhawat was brought dead. He had symptoms of a heat stroke. The deceased’s colleague, Mohammad Rokon, said Sakhawat fell ill due to the intense heat while working at Munshirhat. Later, he was taken to Munshiganj General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Woman, 2 children electrocuted in Barishal
A woman and her two children were electrocuted in Niamati Union of Bakerganj Upazila of Barishal on Saturday (27 April). The deceased were Sonia (32), her daughter Sabrina (9), and Salman (4) of Dhalmara village of the upazila. Md Afzal Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakerganj Police Station, confirmed the matter. Md Humayun Kabir, chairman of Niamati Union, said the incident happened when Salman was playing near the house around 11 this morning. At the time, the electrical connection broke, and he was electrocuted. Later, Sabrina and Sonia went to rescue Salman, and they also died on the spot. Sonia’s husband, Riaz Mollah, is an autorickshaw driver in Dhaka.

Court arrests 12th suspect in Crocus terror attack
The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has arrested Dzhumokhon Kurbonov, the twelfth defendant in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack case, who will remain in custody until May 22. Earlier in the day, the investigators requested the court to arrest Kurbonov. "To satisfy the request of the investigation to choose a measure of restraint against the accused Kurbonov in the form of remand in custody until May 22," the judge said. Kurbonov allegedly provided his accomplices with means of communication and money to pay bills, the Moscow City Court said. Kurbonov himself agreed to his arrest, the defendant`s lawyer noted.
