Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (15 January) issued a warning against entertaining any sort of corruption and irregularities in any public sector, including public procurement. "I will not tolerate any kind of corruption and irregularity to ensure transparency and accountability in all areas including government procurement," she said. The prime minister conveyed the stern message while delivering her introductory speech at the maiden cabinet meeting of the new government held at her office (PMO).

HC rule seeks Tk 5cr compensation for Ayaan’s family

The High Court has issued a rule asking why the family of Ayaan, who passed away following full anesthesia during a circumcision procedure at United Medical College Hospital, should not be paid Tk 5 crore as compensation. The High Court bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah issued this rule on Monday (15 January). The court gave the United Medical College Hospital authorities, the Health secretary, the Director General of Health and others concerned four weeks to respond to the rule.

Arrest warrants issued against Evaly CEO, his wife

A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against disgraced CEO of online site Evaly Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, also a co-founder, in a case filed cheque bounce.
